Smokin' Tigers

Been fiddling around with various smoke systems on the Tamiya tank and finally cracked it! Here are instructions to fit a throttle controlled exhaust smoke system to your very own tank!

To date I have fitted these smokers to all my tanks (bar the Leo) and they all work brilliantly!

Below is a video showing the various tanks smokers in action, bear in mind that I have found the system to run a lot more efficiently when running under load rather than on blocks (probably down to something technical like increased resistance, ohms and fancy widgets. I like to think its the little pixies inside working that little bit harder with the wind blowing through their hair)!

The smoke is much more visible in lower temperatures (much like the real thing), the Kingtiger was filmed last autumn when ambient temperatures were much lower, you will see the difference!

Hopefully in the future I will get some better vid but for now this should give you a rough idea :O)

Quite a simple thing to do, tools required are a soldering iron, hot glue gun, pliers, sharp craft knife, scissors, etc. You will also need for each tank one of the little 40mm 12v DC Axial fans (the sort of thing you use on computers), a 6v Graupner smoke unit (available from any good hobby shop), on/off switch, some thin brass sheet and some plastic tubing (sort of stuff used for home brew or aquariums)

Please note that these instructions show the system being fitted to a King Tiger type chassis, the basic principle remains the same and any differences will be shown in there own section, I will be adding sections as I refit all my tanks!

I have also numbered each step as the pictures can often show in the wrong order!

Finally be aware that what your about to do WILL void warranties on battery or tank components and be VERY CAREFULL when working with the battery, it is only 7.2 volts but it can hurt if your careless, I know!
