King Tiger

Late April, 1945. Near the end of WWII. German forces driven into the corner continued a desperate battle against Soviet forces that had closed in on Berlin with overwhelming force. 10 King Tigers that remained in SPzAbt 503 made up part of the defensive forces. These King Tigers secured important points in the city, such as railroad stations, bridges and main roads where they persevered in a desperate struggle until every last one of them was lost by May 2nd. These King Tigers defeated masses of Spviet tanks and self-propelled guns such as the T34 medium tanks and JS-122 Stalin tanks. With its 71 caliber 88mm gun and thick armour, the King Tiger was called the strongest tank in WWII, and posed a great threat to the allied forces until the very last moment before the surrender of Germany. A great model to build, the biggest of the WWII range, definately feels like you get your moneys worth out of this kit! Notice the additional stowage, I really think a tank looks bare without the day to day accumilation of equipment and gear which you so often see on archive footage. This tank, like all my others has had additional METAL TRACKS fitted. I would recommend these to anyone, hard to explain but it really gives a more 'realistic' feel to driving the tank!

That's one MF of a tank!

Mud, Mud, Glorius Mud!

All my tanks have metal tracks fitted, definately in my opinion the best upgrade out there

Bum-end of the beasty. Note the exhausts made from brass tubing to allow the smoke to pour out when throttle applied! Va Va Vrooom

Note the engine grills made from aluminium mesh, very cheap from your local auto shop!

Nice shot showing the stowage on both the rear engine deck and the turret

'I think you are in my parking space'

Another close-up of the stowage addorning the turret

The crew..

fritz couldnt wait for his 'SS'embroidered booster cushion to arrive

'Ze Var is over for you Tommy'!

Couldn't resist adding yet more to the KT, after dressing up the Sherman felt it was only fitting to provide some infantry support for the Krauts

The figures are the 21st century 1/18 scale miniatures, I touched up the faces to take away that plasticy look

I love that 'busy' look :O)

Wonder if his feet go right to the bottom

Why walk when you can ride?

I suppose bumber stickers are next...
